Isn’t this wall of colorful donut pillows amazing? This was at the Doughnut Plant in Chelsea, where I ate a small creme brulee donut with Taurin this past weekend. His weekend visit coincided with my younger brother’s, so we spent the last few days escaping from the cold, eating, and seeing friends.
Once they left, I woke up all alone with a fever. So I’ve been using the extra time indoors to catch up on sleep and work. Early March is such an odd time of the year–not quite winter or spring. I’m beginning to run faster towards looming deadlines, preparing for the warm weather days that’ll arrive soon.
Sous-vide and smoked wings at Momofuku Noodle Bar. So, so good.
Green curry ramen was on the Momofuku Noodle Bar special menu. I liked the crispy chicken meatballs and the chewy noodles, but I much prefer their original ramen.
Cafe Himalaya just might be my new favorite restaurant. Of course, we began the meal with salty yak butter tea!
Sweet rice for dessert. I can’t believe we had room for dessert.
Another lovely letter from Fiona arrived! I love the Malaysian tea she included.
Deco tape shooting out tiny daisies.
“Is it snowing where you are? All the world that I see from my tower is draped in white and the flakes are coming down as big as pop-corns. It’s late afternoon – the sun is just setting (a cold yellow colour) behind some colder violet hills, and I am up in my window seat using the last light to write to you.” ― Jean Webster, Daddy-Long-Legs
The little pony pin is also from Fiona, which I put on my favorite bag from Baggu. I’ve stopped carrying my purses because the canvas backpack is so light and simple.
Miscellaneous things I like: My handy dandy iPad for school work, 3D paper pad and Muji pen for writing letters, and MT slim tape pack and blue baker’s twine for crafting.
I just got a baby blue Snugg case for my iPad and I’m in love! I used to have one from the Apple store that never felt really stable. This one’s perfectly sturdy and adorable.
P.S. Do you have a favorite iphone or ipod app?

March 7, 2013 at 11:32 pmThose donut pillows look so delicious! It’s hard to pick a favourite app but I recently upgraded to iOS 6 (so not u- to-date, ha!) and am liking the new Google Maps app. It even has Streetview, which is really useful. Hope you feel better soon!

March 10, 2013 at 8:14 amThat wall looks yummy and funny. And your sharings always make me hungry….
I feel the same towards early March. I am troubled with thinking if I should wear summer or winter clothes whenever I go outdoor. And it’s so easy to be sick uncarefully in this period of time. Sewon, take care and get well soon!:))

March 11, 2013 at 3:09 amOh my god, this is the funniest thing. You see the shot with the sumo wrestler on the wall? Those flyers show you the menu with prices. One of them says “cunt as quoted.” Sooo obscene and hilarious.

March 11, 2013 at 2:09 pmHaha, oh my gosh! 😀 That’s hilarious but not surprising. The whole restaurant’s theme is just as obscene, with lots of vintage Japanese porn posters and memorabilia along the walls. The items on the menu are just as bizarre.

I love that donut wall. I do want it. <3
I'm coming to NY in 3 weeks. I'll have to get some recommendations from you about where to go and what to see. 🙂

March 11, 2013 at 3:18 pmThat doughnut lavender pillow, in the middle, is my favorite! What a cleaver idea.
mmm that okonomiyaki looks so good. perfect to eat on a cold day.
And that bag is so cute. Oh, I love MT washi tape! I just want to buy all of them! So many pretty patterns, and designs. Is that a deco tape pen? I think I’ve seen those, or something similar to that. I’m putting that on my wish list!

March 12, 2013 at 6:37 pmThat’s a great case for your iPad! I have one of those folding cases from the Apple store but you’re right, it doesn’t feel very stable/sturdy!
Love the look of all that food. One day I’ll get to try Momofuku for myself one day, it looks so delicious. Really loving that donut-cushion wall too. What a cool detail!
