A few weeks ago, we pushed our way through San Francisco’s rush hour traffic for a weekend getaway in the Central Coast. Our friend Paul found us a charming nautical-themed house on a hill overlooking Morro Bay. We started each morning slowly, sipping coffee on our sunny deck. Without ever feeling rushed, we managed to make all the perfect pitstops around the coast.
Consumed over the weekend: Smoked fish tacos, in-n-out (of course), vegan “taco” salad, tri-tip sandwiches with beer-battered onion rings, and more!
An afternoon at the scenic Daou Winery!
The infamous Hearst Castle, the inspiration behind Citizen Kane and the Lady Gaga music video. At the peak of its fame and splendor, there used to be giraffes and zebras roaming around the premises.
And last but not least, pink smoothie cocktail and dancing at the bubble-gum colored Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo!
Places we visited:
1. Daou Vineyards [x] Paso Robles
2. Madonna Inn [x] San Luis Obispo
3. Shine Cafe [x] Morro Bay
4. The Shell Shop [x] Morro Bay
5. Scout Coffee Co. [x] San Luis Obispo
6. Hearst Castle [x] San Simeon
7. Ruddell’s SmokeHouse [x] Cayucos Pier

October 15, 2014 at 4:15 pmI think you’d really like the Central Coast, Jacqui! There are so many quirky spots. We drove past a town that specializes in farming garlic, and it smelled like garlic for a few miles. 😉
