“One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things.”
– Henry Miller
Friday night was quiet. We drank mango juice and ate pasta leftovers from the other night. My housemate Alina came back with a copy of Alice (Něco z Alenky), a 1988 film by Czech surrealist Jan Svankmajer. I got so nostalgic thinking about last summer in Prague and all my adventures with Beth–running around train tracks in an abandoned industrial town on the outskirts of the city, searching for art exhibitions held at unmarked factories, getting lost without feeling scared, and drinking beer to save money. I remember I wished I could speak Czech as well as I could speak Spanish. Now I think my Spanish is pretty lousy but hey, I live in Mexico.
Today we went walking around the city for hours and hours. Taurin ate cow tongue with gravy for lunch and we bought some house music albums at Zona Rosa. I woke up from a mid-afternoon nap and took some self-portraits. The city cuts of water supply almost every weekend. I hope I can shower before going to bed tonight..
