Shanghai Christmas

My first Christmas away from home passed by quietly. I baked a honey pecan pie and wrote a few letters home. On Christmas evening, my friends and I gathered at my place for a cozy potluck and secret santa gift exchange. I spent the rest of the holiday break wandering around and eating good food. I can’t believe 2011 is just around the corner!

The fur coat Taurin got me for Christmas!

Breakfast egg crepe (jianbing 煎饼) with crispy wafer, scallions, cilantro, pickled ginger, and savory sauce.

My jian bing stand is very similar to this one. I’m too shy to take a photo of mine since I go there at least once a week. (Photo by TomEats)

We escaped the cold with an early dinner at Citizen Cafe, a charming little restaurant in the French Concession. I had hot blueberry tea with a shot of amaretto and marinara pasta. Taurin had bloody mary and grilled pork neck.

Ed let me borrow his little Christmas tree for the potluck.

It’s not anything like my Mexican penthouse, but my cozy place made it an intimate gathering.

P.S. I have a tumblr! Anyone else?
