All my memories of warm Beijing summer evening get-togethers merge into one. Dancing at the 798 art district Yen party, grabbing meals at cozy Yunnanese restaurants, sipping carefully crafted cocktails at the Apothecary, and wandering around Sanlitun with Taurin, Re, Vicky, and James.
“I have noticed that when all the lights are on, people tend to talk about what they are doing-their outer lives. Sitting round in candlelight or firelight, people start to talk about how they are feeling-their inner lives. They speak subjectively, they argue less, there are longer pauses.” – By Jeanette Winterson from Why I Adore Night

August 1, 2011 at 1:15 pmI’ve stumbled upon your blog & just wanted to say, you take such lovely photos &, you were born in South Korea! South Korea is a very special place for me, I lived there for 3 years and love the people & the culture. Beijing looks amazing! I wish I had travelled there when I was in Seoul…maybe one day! And oh, the delicious food…mm….I love the different varieties of food in Asia (& it’s usually so cheap!)

August 2, 2011 at 1:29 amYeah! It’s Yunnanese food so they use lots of mint leaves and mild spices to season the dishes. Yum!
