I finally uploaded photos taken on my Shanghainese Seagull and my new Lomo LC-A+. I found a good little photography shop on my bicycle route to school that scans my negatives for me.
I’m so slow at taking analog photos that I discovered shots from Shanghai, Seoul, Busan, Kunming (here), and other mysterious locations!
Other than the window seat, the spiral staircase is probably my favorite thing about my new apartment here.
A view of Busan from my hotel room.
A 21+ RMB taxi ride in Shanghai
Taurin took this photo of me by the Green Lake.
Kunming is actually a quite (or very) large city of 6+ million people.
*If you’re curious, click the photos individually for information about the camera and location.
P.S.
Happy (Belated) Moon Festival!
It’s a holiday everyone gathers to eat mooncakes (full-moon shaped snacks) and gazes up at the moon (we’re all under the same moon). The local mooncakes from the Yunnan Province are perfectly round with buttery flaky skin!
(After a second glance, I’m giggling to myself because this photo is so obviously different from the rest in the entry. I’m still the most comfortable lugging around my DSLR.)

September 14, 2011 at 6:23 pmmoon cake iz good.
i never got the hang of film cameras. i guess i’m too lazy to develop/scan the film, and the unpredictable quality always surprised me in a bad way. btw i love that shot of you by green lake!

September 15, 2011 at 12:15 amI’m lazy with film (a.k.a. why I had photos of Shanghai on this roll) and I’m too used to the predictability of my DSLR (and what it does for the perfectionist side of me). But I think it’s good for me to think about image-making from a different perspective. The light-leaks, exposure flaws, and the graininess becomes part of the fun.
P.S. You should grab a disposable camera from the store, and see what you come up with! xx

September 15, 2011 at 2:08 amWhat!! You have a spiral staircase in your apartment!?! No fair, that is too awesome! Also, ive always wanted to try a mooncake. I remember watching a show when I was little where one of the characters eats one–they look really good 🙂

September 16, 2011 at 2:52 amI was really excited about it when we were apartment-shopping! Mooncake can be a hit or a miss, actually. I think it’s usually a bit too rich for me, but you can cut them up into small pieces and share. Besides, California is loaded with well-stocked Asian grocery stores, insn’t it? I bet you can find some really good ice cream mooncakes. 🙂

September 16, 2011 at 8:11 pmThe moon cakes look great. And that spiral staircase is pretty awesome! I have always loved those.
I’ve been looking at lomo cameras but I’m thinking if/when I get one I’d still be more comfortable with my DSLR too.

September 17, 2011 at 3:00 amLomo cameras are really fun, but I feel like such a rookie at having fun. I’m still more comfortable with manual focusing and ISO settings than letting loose! 🙂

September 16, 2011 at 8:30 pmwhat lofi loveliness! the first pic is great i always forget about the double/multi exposure function of the lomo and it is always fun to see the results. i also love the plant picture by the window the light and shadow is great, one of my favorite things to photograph, though not as often as i realize id like to. oh, and i am totally jealous of your spiral staircase. wish i had a second floor. btw we might check out a moon festival in staten island tomorrow!

September 17, 2011 at 3:07 amI actually wish I used the double exposure function more with this roll. I’m definitely making a note to self for my second roll. Ohh let me know how the moon festival event goes! 🙂
