Summer plans and Shanghai’s turtle-speed internet has been keeping me offline, but I’m back!
It’s rained almost everyday in June. When I’ve felt brave enough to venture out, my focus has been eating good food with friends. Otherwise, I’ve been keeping busy at home–baking pies, finishing half-read books, and cleaning out my closet listening to bedroom disco.
Well, my summer plans are finally coming together. I’ll be splitting my time between Beijing and Seoul!
How about you?
1. シークレットシークレット – Perfume
2. Nightdrive With You (Fear of Tigers Remix) – Anoraak
3. Manipulating Woman – Ladyhawke
4. Love You All (With Sascha Ring) – Luomo
5. Want U – Lo-Fi-Fnk
6. Paris (Aeroplane Remix) – Friendly Fires
7. Dame De Lotus – Emilie Simon
8. He Keeps Me Alive (Skatebard Remix) – Sally Shapiro

June 14, 2011 at 2:09 amThat last photo is beauuutiful, it reminds me of sitting inside of that cab, stuck in traffic looking at all the blue light under the Shanghai underpasses. What’s inside of those packages? Food?

June 14, 2011 at 10:41 amSuch strange blue lights, aren’t they? Ohh the packages are called “zongzi” and they’re stuffed with sticky rice (some are savory, while some are sweet). The locals eat them to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival (last week).

June 27, 2011 at 3:14 pmmmmm i’m so curious about the first one. there’s a filipino dessert that our grama makes very similar to that. sticky rice wrapped in banana leaves, steamed and eaten with a thick sweet brown coconut sauce. its only made during special occasions as it takes her 3 days to make it! such a treat. btw i made your muffin mix. my muffin pan was too big for our convection oven so i decided to turn it into a loaf of bread. hehehe still deeeeeeeeeeelicious. so wonderfully moist with gooey chocolate chips in the middle. yum-e!
