Lunch at contramar and the creators project

What a great day! Today was the last day of classes at UNAM. Taurin and I both aced our exams and went to Contramar to celebrate. It’s supposed to be one of the best seafood places in town and we’ve been meaning to go there forever, but the restaurant is only open for late lunch so there’s always a long line of people. It was probably a mistake to arrive around 2:45 PM, prime lunch time here in Mexico…but we were luckily seated right away at one of the few sidewalk tables!

We ordered a jug of clericot (Argentine white sangria) while we looked over the menu and by the time I finished my first glass, I realized there was a huge line of people waiting to be seated. But we were hungry so we went back to our heated discussion about what to order. We finally decided on ceviche (cold cooked fish with lime juice), crispy soft-shell crab rolls, and pescado a la contramar (red snapper grilled with red chile on one side and parsley pesto on the other). They served our meal with pickled onions, green salsa, extra limes, refried beans, and fresh tortilla. (P.S. I can’t believe we had room for dessert but the yummy fig tart was totally worth it!)

After a big, satisfying meal at Contramar, Taurin and I walked around Condesa/Roma for awhile. It was sunny and I was just really happy. But I guess I’ve been slowly coming to terms with the fact that my time here is quickly ending. When I flew into Mexico a couple months ago, I had no way of knowing everything would turn out so well. Now, I have a home here. I wish I could stay longer but the airplane tickets have been booked. I need to go home to spend some time with my family/eat a lot of Korean food. And of course, prepare and pack because a new adventure is awaiting us…in Shanghai, the biggest city in the world.

I’m hoping to stay active when I’m home this summer and not get too down about living in the suburbs. And I think I’ll be able to catch The Creators Project launch event in New York and potentially even make it to the finale in Beijing, China. But that’s really far away!

Until then, here’s a video interview of a Beijing-based electronic musician Sulumi by The Creators Project.
