Daily Life Mexico Photos Trips & Travels

Journey to the End of the Night

My days are strangely lucid and I’d say I’m a forgetful person. My dreams have been almost as clear but I usually wake up thinking I’m flying above houses and trees. Otherwise I’ve been looking for new books to read because I’m not making much progress on Proust.

On an unrelated note, I love that Mexico City has so many little museums. These photos are from MUAC and Museo Experimental El Eco. This week Eco is hosting Postpolis, a carefully curated series of conversation between city planners, architects, bloggers, artists, architects, filmmakers, etc. I’ll definitely be at some of the talks and at least the Thursday afterparty at CCE featuring DJ Rupture.

“Travel is very useful and it exercises the imagination. All the rest is disappointment and fatigue. Our own journey is entirely imaginary. That is its strength.

It goes from life to death. People, animals, cities, things, all are imagined. It’s a novel, simply a fictitious narrative.”

'Our own journey is entirely imaginary. That is its strength.' — I really like that. And you can see it in the photos people take.

This song and the very last photo together remind me of sitting in your penthouse eating fish tacos while it was pouring rain outside!

Proust is really difficult to get through. I tried reading "In Search of Lost Time" and it just wasn't happening. I've been really into Rilke lately. His stuff is amazing.

I recently finished "The Notebooks of Malte Laurids Brigge" which is semi-autobiographical and SO good. However, I've been told that Rilke is like Proust in the sense that you are either going to devour his books or hate him.
