Happy Thanksgiving Day!

Dessert first, please, especially if it’s a slice of extra fluffy pumpkin pie with caramel sauce.

Caramelized onions, orange glazed carrots, gravy, and mashed potatoes + cauliflower

Sliced cointreau roasted turkey topped with homemade cranberry + port sauce.

That’s my plate!

The full-day bike ride to burn it all off!

Every year, these seagulls fly here from Russia for our warm weather.

An half-demolished garden full of abandoned statues. From left to right: Stalin, Einstein, Darwin, and Margaret Thatcher.

Mr. Marx

Marked for demolishment

Taurin running off into the rubbles to collect sounds. He’s a sound artist.

Yang Yang and her trusty bicycle.

All the fruit vendors are selling strawberries this week! I’m still rocking my gold nails.

I made up for being oceans away from home for the holidays (again) by eating two huge, very American meals for two evenings in a row. Most of today was spent burning it all off on a long bike ride with a group of cycling enthusiasts. I’m truly thankful for beautiful weather, Kunming’s forever blue skies, wonderful new friends, and loved ones back home for keeping me grounded.

Thank you for coming along on my too many journeys for the past few years. It makes me so happy to know that we are somehow connected by our love of adventures and creative pursuits. I wish I could bake lots of pies (and I’m quite proud of my apple pie) and throw a big dessert party for you all! We’d definitely drink plenty of homemade apple cider, right?

P.S. If you’re curious, I finally updated my little self-introduction page. Please let me know if you notice any silly typos or have any questions I haven’t answered.

Hooray for international Thanksgivings! I’m so impressed at how fancy all of your dishes are, though I’ve started to forget what food can be when you have lots of ingredients and modern tools. Ahh well, only two and a half weeks until I’m reminded.
