Happy mailbox week!

Can you believe it’s snowing in New York City? I’d heard that another storm was on its way today, but I didn’t expect it to snow so early in the year. I left my evening class after dark and saw the ground covered in white snow.

This week, I’ve been focusing on getting back on my feet and returning to normalcy. My roommate even left me a bouquet of roses on our dining nook table. I’m keeping my spirits high! It’s been really rewarding to finally reorganize my crafting table and paper collections. I just got a little linen-covered tray, perfect for holding small crafting supplies.

Fog Linen Work actually just opened their English shop for all of us living outside of Japan, and I’m so glad I read Beebee’s note about it. In the package, they included a handwritten note and this lovely 132-page color catalog. I’m still eyeing their navy gingham collection, especially that apron & tote bag!

I’ve finally decided to participate in The Sketchbook Project this year, and my sketchbook also just arrived. I haven’t even decided on a theme yet, but having a blank slate is such a refreshing challenge. Is anyone else participating this year?

I am also working on small sewing projects in anticipation of cold winter days. I’m a slow sewer, but hopefully I’ll make some progress by the time the holidays arrive. I’m thinking of making fabric bookmarks for my letter-writing friends using these lovely lace and trim collections from Jannese, over at the Usagi Por Moi shop.

And last but not least, I received a colorful mail from Jenna at My Life As A Magazine a little while ago. Amongst many little things, she included a MT tape decorated mini-zine, a pouch of rainbow confetti, and a tiny bunting with my name on it!

I voted for the first time this year. I even held off my legal address change so I could vote in Virginia, which has been a major swing state in recent elections. I’m relieved the U.S. elections results highlighted the diversity of this big country and led us a few steps forward. And as someone susceptible to wanderlust in faraway places, I’m excited to explore and get to know my own country a little better these next upcoming years.

Which reminds me, I’m supposed to fly to San Francisco tomorrow! I really hope the storm clouds float away so I can be with my Taurin. Please keep your fingers crossed for me!
