There is so much I want to write about! Before I forget, I’m going to rewind back to a very memorable weekend here in Mexico City…Taurin’s birthday weekend. Taurin’s parents flew into town and we climbed the pyramids at Teotihuacan, floated down the Xochimilco canals while the mariachis sang the mañanitas, and took long walks in the historical center. And for the big birthday dinner we went to Biko, a Spanish restaurant owned by Basques chefs Bruno Oteiza and Mikel Alonso.
Biko is #46 on S.Pellegrino World’s 50 Best Restaurants and the only one from Mexico to make it onto the list. Biko’s menu is divided into two: traditional and “evolutionary.” I had the 7-8 course “evolutionary” tasting menu with the wine pairing option. It was definitely one of the most exciting dining experiences. Every dish tasted amazing and the presentation was beautifully done. We ate for at least three hours!
