China Photos Projects Shanghai Trips & Travels

A sonic bike trip around Chong Ming Island

Dear you, I’m glad found your way back here, because I want to keep in touch more than ever.

I know I’ve been quiet lately, but the Middle Kingdom has been slowly shutting down my access to the rest of the world. So I’ve been keeping busy, doing power yoga in the mornings and riding my bike around town. Emily is visiting me in a week, and we’ll be off on more bike adventures in April. I can’t wait!

This past weekend we braved the storm clouds and went on a bike trip around Chong Ming Dao, an island north of Shanghai. It was strange to see vast green fields appear beyond the tunnel, as we left behind the city of ultramodern skyscrapers. Along with four sound artists, we collected field recordings of our journey for Bivouac Recording’s Chong Ming Dao Tapes Project, and had a picnic by the water.

I want to start a sound collection! I love the first photo and crane in the wheatfield (if that is a wheatfield).
