It’s Monday, and I’m feeling ready to take on anything, thanks to a rejuvenating weekend of adventures.
This weekend, Way invited us to his cousin’s beautiful home for an afternoon of tea and food. I was so happy to see her collection of little potted plants and handmade things. We chatted about Julia Child’s beef bourguinon recipe while sipping tea in tiny ceramic cups. I even managed to explain my mom’s kimchi recipe in Chinese, which I’m proud to announce, was a huge hit at dinner.
Sun-brewed red tea and a tiny plate of dried fruit
Pu-er tea from our province, Yunnan
Homemade layered chocolate cake
Dinner: braised firm tofu and pork belly, cold noodles tossed with vegetables, fried potato croquette, sweetened rice with raisins, Korean bulgogi + spicy marinaded pork + kimchi by me, veggie omelet, and chicken stewed in Dai spices.
For our fifth anniversary festivities, Taurin and I climbed the Xishan mountain and snapped lots of photos by the stone forest with my toy camera. After drinking some champagne and snacking on (never) too much brie cheese, we ventured far out to the suburbs for a Thai meal overlooking the city. It was a perfect day!
On the cable car crossing the Dianchi Lake, leaving the city
