I am getting so excited about spring and all the wonderful warm weather activities to come–picnics, potlucks, flea markets, rooftop hangouts, long walks, mini dresses, and sandals.
Alexander, the dashing young cook behind Breakfast Bachelor, invited me for an evening of pizza-making in his lovely kitchen. It was so much fun chatting about our love of food and the city, I hardly realized the clock was ticking.

Balsamic vinaigrette sautéed radicchio tossed with ripe bartlett pears
Piled on radicchio, pears, and goat milk capricho de cabra!
The second one is crushed red pepper tomato sauce, cremini mushrooms, roasted cherry tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and basil. Yum!

A few months ago, I managed to finish printing and binding my little photo zine, right before I left Yunnan. These zines have traveled with me through Shanghai, Virginia, and now New York. I find such joy in preparing small packages and sending off my zines to friends and familiar strangers all around the world. It’s so strange to see that I only have just a handful of copies left. I wonder where they’ll travel to next.
On a related note, I’m hoping to write a short tutorial for those of you hoping to delve into independently publishing digital zines. I know how confusing the process can be at first, but it’s just wonderful to see memories and ideas become tangible.

April 3, 2012 at 10:57 pmFor beautifully printed color zines, it’s definitely worthwhile to connect with a small print shop with the right equipment, paper, and ink. The quality difference is huge! As for binding, it really depends on how many editions I’m printing. 🙂

i’m really really excited about all the upcoming picknicks and everything as well. it’s weird how fast the weather changed this year (from around -15C 6 weeks ago to +20C now), but i enjoy it a lot. and i’m jealous you speak Korean! i’ve made quite some Korean friends while being an exchange student, and afterwards i studied it a liiittle bit (so i can read signs when i finally travel to Korea one day), but i really don’t know more than how to read the alphabet / prenounce words, how to write 바나나 and i can sing along with (the whole!) 뽀뽀뽀-tv tune. and properly use ㅋ;) i think it’s very interesting – especially the whole theory about how the characters became the way they look like.
