ノルウェイの森

I’ve been reading a lot lately, thanks to the man with the book cart–he usually stands outside of convenience stores with a big cart full of books. Saturday morning I gulped down two glasses of orange juice and finished Norwegian Woods. Taurin and I took our bikes out for a ride, and the sky was blue. We spent most of the afternoon around People’s Square people-watching, eating at the MoCA rooftop cafe, and walking around the Biennale.

Me in front of the statue in People’s Park (Taurin took this one)

Tonight I baked a loaf of beer bread with a can of Reeb (Shanghai local beer, also “beer” spelled backwards). I’ll post the recipe later this week, but the trick is to pour melted butter on top right before you put it in the oven. Yum!

Did you like Norwegian Wood? Dance Dance Dance was the first Murakami book I ever read and I've been a fan ever since. Actually, I have yet to meet someone who dislikes his work!

    Dear Anonymous,

Shanghai is getting cold here, but it's warmer on some odd days. Bring a warm coat and a light jacket. If you need more layers, you can probably buy cute scarves and other accessories while you're here.
